Assam CM gives 35,800 scooters to meritorious students of higher secondary Sarma said it was a historic milestone in the lives of those who made it to the list of eligibles for Dr. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday inaugurated the ceremonial distribution of scooters to meritorious candidates who cleared the last higher secondary examinations conducted by the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council with percentage above a certain threshold at a ceremony held at the Veterinary College Playground in the state's capital city. Banikanta Kakati Merit Award, under the Pragya Bharti scheme, this year is being awarded to a total of 35,800 beneficiaries, of which 6,052 are boys and 29,748 are girls.

RBI Retail Digital Rupee pilot project launched in India.

New Delhi: The Reserve Bank of India today (Thursday, December 01) launched the first pilot for retail digital Rupee (e₹-R). The pilot would cover select locations in closed user group (CUG) comprising participating customers and merchants.  "The pilot will test the robustness of the entire process of digital rupee creation, distribution and retail usage in real time. Different features and applications of the e₹-R token and architecture will be tested in future pilots, based on the learnings from this pilot," RBI has said.

Gujarat Election 2022 Polls: 4.92% Voter Turnout Recorded Till 9 AM, CM Leads Roadshow In Mehsana.

Voting is currently underway across 89 seats in the first phase of the Gujarat Assembly Election to decide the fate of 788 candidates. An average 4.92 per cent voter turnout was recorded in the first hour of polling in 89 seats across 19 districts of Saurashtra-Kutch and southern regions. Surat district recorded a turnout of about four per cent, while Dang and Tapi, two tribal-dominated districts in the south region recorded brisk voting 7.76 per cent and 7.25 per cent, respectively. Porbandar recorded the lowest turnout of 3.92 per cent so far, while Kutch district reported five per cent polling, the EC said in its latest update. Netizens are saving videos, images and accounts of protests on platforms abroad before official censors can delete them, according to the Reuters news agency. Many rely on virtual private networks (VPNs), which are banned, to get past China’s Great Firewall and on to encryptedmessaging apps. For three days starting Nov25, protesters gathered in several cities across the country in a show of civil disobedience unprecedented since President Xi assumed power a decade ago. Frustration with the policy had been building, but the spark for the protests was an apartment building fire in Urumqi that claimed 10 lives. AIIMS restores key data.

The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) said on Tuesday that eHospital data has been restored on its servers. The network is being sanitised before full services can restart, the hospital said. “The process is taking some time due to the volume of data and large number of servers/computers for the hospital services. Measures are being taken for cyber security,” AIIMS said. All hospital services continue to run on manual mode. On November 23 AIIMS’ servers were hit by a ran-somware attack. The India Computer Emergency Re-sponse Team, Delhi Police and representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs are investigating the incident.

Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Shri Anurag Thakur has today said that, “presenting authentic information is the prime responsibility of media and that facts should be properly checked before they are put in the public domain”. Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union General Assembly 2022, the Minister said, “while speed with which the information is transmitted is important, accuracy is even more important and should be primary in the minds of communicators”. With the spread of social media, fake news has also proliferated, the Minister added. To that end he informed the audience of broadcasters from the Asia-Pacific region that the Government promptly established the Fact Check Unit in the Press Information Bureau of Government of India to counter unverified claims and present truth to the people.

Indian Navy Organises Medical Camp at Niuland, Nagaland

Indian Navy today organised a multi-specialty medical and wellness camp at the remotely located district Niuland at Nagaland, 35 Km from Dimapur. This was as part of a series of activities planned as an outreach from the  IN  to the North-Eastern States and building awareness about the Indian Navy. The camp was inaugurated by Surg Rear Admiral Ravinderajeet Singh, Additional Director General Medical Services (Navy) and Mrs Sara S Jamir, District Commissioner of Niuland. The multi-specialty camp included consultation by Medical Specialist, Gynaecologist, ENT Specialist, Ophthalmologist, Radiologist and Dental Specialist, deputed from various Commands of the Indian Navy. The medicines prescribed by the Specialists are being distributed free of cost to the patients. GoFirst gets Rs 400 crore from government amid worrying flight disruptions and delays.

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Tuesday declined to entertain a plea seeking to double the number of judges in the high courts and trial courts, saying more judges does not mean more disposal, instead good judges are required. A bench headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and comprising Justice P.S. Narasimha told the petitioner, advocate Ashwini Upadhyay, that doubling the number of judges is not the solution to address pendency of cases. “More judges do not mean more disposal, you need good judges,” the Chief Justice told Upadhyay.

Chandrashekhar Rao. Sharmila tried to go to CM KCR’s office-cum-residence Pragati Bhavan as a protest against an attack on her by alleged TRS workers yesterday. Auli (Uttarakhand), Nov 29: Indian Army troops are using trained Kites to prey on enemy drones in a first-of-its-kind usage of these birds. Indian Army is using trained Kites along with dogs for military operations, Army officials said. Such a capability can help the security forces to tackle the menace of drones coming from across the border to Indian areas in Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir. Several cases have come to light where drones coming from Pakistani side dropped consignment of drugs, guns and money in Jammu and Kashmir and Punjab. Recently on November 24, Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered a consignment of weapons and Indian currency that were dropped by a Pakistani drone in the Samba district of Jammu. The Indian Army demonstrated the use of kites to prey on enemy drones during the ongoing joint training exercise Yuddh Abhyas in Auli, Uttarakhand.

No construction on Sukhatal lakebed near Naini lake, orders Uttarakhand High Court.

The High Court Of Uttarakhand recently directed the state government to stop all construction activities on the bed of a lake in Nainital. The court was hearing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) suo motu on preserving Sukhatal.  A Bench of Chief Justice Vipin Sanghi and Justice RC Khulbe issued notices to the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority and the State Wetlands Management Authority. All encroachments in the area were ordered to be removed.

Tamil Nadu notifies area for Chengalpattu satellite town.

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu government has notified 136.25 sq km consisting of 60 villages to develop the satellite town of Chengalpattu, according to a Government Order (GO) issued by Housing Secretary Hitesh Kumar S Makwana.The GO, issued on Wednesday, said a study was done for delineation of planning area boundaries for the proposed Chengalpattu New Town, which includes 60 villages from Chengalpattu, Thirukazhukundram, and Thiruporur taluks. “The contiguous villages around the central core of Chengalpattu town, bounded by the natural boundary of Palar River on the west, GST Road and Mahindra City or Singaperumal Koil on the north, several non-continuous hillocks on the east, and the new administrative headquarters on the south have been considered for the delineation of planning area boundary,” the GO stated. This will help tap the potential of new residential, commercial, industrial, and institutional activities along GST Road, Chengalpattu-Thiruporur Corridor, and the Chengalpattu-Wal

A team of officials from the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department of the Tamil Nadu government inspected a temple hall of the Malaimandala Perumal temple, in Chaturangapatnam, that has been converted to a place of Islamic worship by local Muslims. This Perumal (Vishnu) temple, in Chengalpattu district, is believed to have been constructed during the days of the Vijayanagar Empire. The area near the temple hall was the venue for Uriyadi held on Janmashtami. Uriyadi is similar to Dahi Handi wherein devotees try to break a pot filled with eatables like butter, seedai and murukku. The employees of the temple, which is under the control of the HR&CE department, were not aware of the existence of the structures. Uriyadi has not been conducted at the temple for over 50 years now.
